Mitica Piedras de Chocolate are chocolate-covered almonds coated in a layer of cocoa dust. Piedras, which means “stones” in Spanish, speaks to the rocky aesthetic of these double chocolate Spanish Largueta almonds. Both rich and sweet, they have a delightful nutty crunch that makes them addictively snackable. Serve them up with a Spanish blue like Pria Azul and a dollop of Murray’s Spiced Cherry Preserves.

“When I’m feeling snackish, nothing disappears as quickly as these little delights. Crunchy and oh-so chocolatey, they’re great for an energy boost! Go extra on your next cheese pairing and crush one of these up and sprinkle it over some blue cheese on a Cherry & Almond Crisp.”

  • Piedras means “stones” in Spanish, and Piedras de Chocolate are so named because they resemble little stones.
  • These Piedras are made using Largueta almonds, a Spanish variety that’s longer and flatter than California almonds.
  • They have a distinctive sweetness, making them easy for snacking.
  • From the Spanish word for mythical, Mitica is a gourmet food importer that offers the best of the best from Spain and the Iberian Peninsula.
  • Regional delicacies, like marcona almonds, membrillo, and crispy tortas, are carefully curated by the company’s product experts.
  • Based in Long Island, New York, Mitica is part of the specialty food company Forever Cheese, founded by Michele Buster and Pierluigi Sini.
  • Forever Cheese was created in 1998 to share Sini’s renowned family cheeses with a U.S. audience.
  • The duo originally offered Italian cheeses before moving into Spanish, Portuguese, and even Croatian cheese.
  • It wasn’t long before they were also adding other charcuterie staples, like prosciutto and fruit spreads, to the fold
