Murray's never uses the term "gourmet" because owner Rob Kaufelt just can't stand the word gourmet.  However you like to refer to these delicious treats, Murray's can help you understand how to use and pair them with the perfect cheeses.

Try membrillo with Manchego, and Prosciutto di Parma with Parmigiano-Reggiano. With your country pate, serve Pyrenees Brebis, cornichons, and grainy mustard.

Murray's Cheese Course is New York's best spot to learn about cheese. In our cozy classroom overlooking the Bleecker Street store, expand your knowledge with tasting classes suited for all levels of curiosity. We regularly offer Cheese 101 classes which cover the basics of how cheese is made, how cheese should be served, how cheese should be stored, and much more. For more in-depth classes, attend a wine and cheese or beer and cheese pairing class, a class that explores Murray's subterranean cheese caves, or a course that guides you how to make cheese yourself. To more fully understand the cheese-making process, take a trip out of the city with Murray's to visit some of our favorite farms. Make sure you sign up for our newsletter to stay updated on our seasonally-specific classes!

For the avid cheese enthusiast, Murray's Cheese U Boot Camp provides a firm foundation for one's cheese knowledge. Designated New York's "Best Post-Secondary Ed Class" by New York Magazine, this weekend-long cheese course educates students on the history and geography of cheese; the chemistry of cheese; the art of affinage; the tasting and evaluation of cheese; and the basics of pairing wine, beer, and cheese. Lectures, demonstrations, tastings, and exploration of the caves contribute to a well-rounded and in-depth weekend that gives students a strong foundation in the world of cheese. 

The Murray's Classroom also has space available for private or corporate events, and private cheese and beverage tastings. Murray's opens their classroom for such events, and alternatively provides off-site catering.
