A smoky, sweet start to the new year Southern tradition claims that eating black eyed peas on New Year’s will bring prosperity--while we can’t guarantee that this dish will bring you luck, its smoky, sweet, and savory elements are sure to add some serious flavor to your New Year’s celebrations. Similar to the classic baked beans you know and love, this iteration takes mouthwatering bacon and pairs it with our Aged Cheddar for subtle surprise.

Ingredients
- 1 Small Onion, minced
- 1 Yellow Bell Pepper, minced
- ½ cup Ketchup
- ¼ cup Molases
- ½ cup Dark Brown Sugar
- 3 Tbsp. Whole Grain Mustard
- 4 Tbsp. Rodolphe Buerre de Baratte Wild Pepper Butter
- ¼ Lb Murray’s Aged English Cheddar
- 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
- 3 16 oz. cans Black Eyed Peas
- 6 oz. Bacon

Directions
- Preheat the oven to 300F.
- Begin by melting the butter in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the onion and bell pepper and cook until just soft, about 4 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and add the remaining ingredients minus the bacon and mix to combine.
- Place the bean mixture in an oven-proof baking dish.
- Place the slices of bacon over the bean mixture.
- Place the baking dish on a sheet tray, then place in the oven.
- Bake until the beans are bubbling and the bacon has browned, about 1.5 hours.
