Flowers are lovely, but hops know how to party. Hop Blossom is a Murray’s-exclusive spin on fan favorite Alp Blossom, swapping petals for an aromatic coating of biodynamic Bavarian hops, mountain herbs, lemon myrtle, woodruff, and mint. Beneath the rind, the Alpine cheese is smooth, creamy, and deeply savory, with the coating adding herbaceous, malty lift. Pour a crisp lager and add Puddletown Pub Chutney for an Oktoberfest-inspired bite.
“Hop Blossom is the cheese I want next to an ice-cold lager: rich and savory enough to stand up to the beer but with this incredible aromatic hit of hops and herbs that keeps you wanting more."
Unpasteurized Cow Milk, Hop flowers, lemon myrtle leaves, woodruff herb, curly mint leaves, Salt, Cultures, Animal rennet
Allergens: Milk
- Hop Blossom begins with the same raw cow’s milk cheese as Alp Blossom, made in the Bavarian Alps by cheesemaker Albert Kraus.
- Instead of Alp Blossom’s colorful floral coating, the wheel is covered in a fragrant blend of biodynamic Bavarian hops, mountain herbs, lemon myrtle, woodruff, and mint.
- The cheese itself is smooth, creamy, and deeply savory, while the coating brings out herbal, aromatic, and lightly malty notes—a natural match for beer.
- Hop Blossom is exclusive to Murray’s for now, making it an especially festive pick for Oktoberfest gatherings, holiday boards, and gifting.
- Pair with Maine Crisp Co. Savory Fig & Thyme Crisps, Three Little Figs Puddletown Pub Chutney, or Charlito’s Cocina Cerveza Seca.
- Albert Kraus launched his own small dairy, Hofkäserei Kraus, in 2008 after he interned at a large-scale cheesemaking operation.
- Kraus collects milk from his brother’s herd of Brown Swiss cows and uses it as the canvas for his uniquely terroir-inspired cheeses.
- Kraus produces a number of cheeses, including Alex, Alp Blossom, Alpengouda, and Rampe Kase.
- In 2018, Kraus expanded his dairy and built a new production facility across the border in the Bavaria region of Germany.
