Fresh, flavorful Meredith Dairy Marinated Sheep & Goat Cheese comes all the way from a farmstead creamery in Australia. The tangy white hunks of cheese are divinely spreadable, and slightly garlicky with an herby tang. Add a jar to your next cheese board, spread it on a fresh baguette or Firehook Firehook Sea Salt Cracker, or simply boil a pot of pasta, stir a few chunks of cheese into the hot noodles, add some cracked pepper and call it dinner.
“Meredith Dairy Marinated Sheep & Goat Cheese has endless uses. It’s perfect smeared on a baguette or a cracker and paired with a roasted tomato or dollop of Mitica Tomato Jam. You can also mix it in with pasta for a luscious, ready-made meal.”
Allergens: Milk
- Meredith Dairy is a farmstead creamery located fifty miles west of Melbourne, Australia.
- Sheep’s and goat’s milk is gathered each morning, and by afternoon it’s transformed into yogurt and cubes of cheese. Once cubed, it’s submerged in premium, garlic-infused olive oil and layers of peppercorns and fresh herbs.
- The cheese was once known as Meredith Dairy’s “feta.”
- However, once the European Union established Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) labeling for feta cheese—meaning anything labeled “feta” had to be made in Greece, Meredith Dairy changed the cheese’s name.
While harder cheeses can stay fresh for up to two to three weeks when wrapped tightly and unopened, fresh style cheeses are best consumed within a few days. The best thing to do is to keep the cheese in one of your refrigerator drawers or the vegetable bin; this will help to keep your cheese from drying out. If your cheese is packed in olive oil or brine, store any leftovers in the liquid and follow package instructions. All cheeses and meats are perishables—by definition they degrade over time—so we encourage our customers to enjoy the cheese while it's in peak condition!
- Meredith Dairy co-founders Sandy and Julie Cameron established their farm in 1991.
- Sandy, a trained vet, and Julie, an intensive care nurse, recognized the changing agricultural landscape in their native Australia and set out to develop innovative, sustainable food solutions.
- Located 50 miles west of Melbourne, Meredith Dairy is the largest farm of its kind in Australia.
- Small herds of sheep and goats across multiple dairies provide milk for Meredith’s cheese and yogurt.
- In 2019, Meredith Dairy was awarded the President’s Medal from the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW.
