The artisans at Nettle Meadow have created the ultimate sweet bite with their Maple Fromage Frais. Made from a blend of cow’s and goat’s milk, it’s hand-mixed and oh-so fluffy—think whipped cream cheese but even better. Its balanced caramelly sweetness comes from an infusion of New York State maple syrup. It can go from cheese board to dessert—either way, slather some over Rustic Bakery Vanilla Bean Shortbread and top with Murray’s Honey Roasted Almonds.
“I love adding this to my cheese board as a light and slightly sweet option. It’s a great counterpoint to heavier, more savory selections.”
While harder cheeses can stay fresh for up to two to three weeks when wrapped tightly and unopened, fresh style cheeses are best consumed within a few days of opening. The best thing to do is to keep the cheese in one of your refrigerator drawers or the vegetable bin; this will help to keep your cheese from drying out. If your cheese is packed in olive oil or brine, store any leftovers in the liquid and follow package instructions. All cheeses and meats are perishables—by definition they degrade over time—so we encourage our customers to enjoy the cheese while it's in peak condition!
